Throughout the last decade
Mongolia was undergoing a dramatic and unprecedented transition,
which inflicted serious economic crisis and social challenges.
These challenges tested our faith in human virtue and benevolence.
Amidst the struggle with the difficulties of reviving the crisis-stricken
economy there seemed to have been no space left for the altruism
and charity. However, the tough tests of the time could not bereave
us, as a nation, of the high human causes and goodwill. The rotary
movement in Mongolia is the evidence for this.

If the first Rotary in Mongolia was the Rotary
Club of Ulaanbaatar (RCU), where the English language was the
means of communication in conducting the business of the Club,
the ranks of the Rotarians in Mongolia have expanded by our Mongolian
language based Rotary Club of Khuree (RCK). The establishment
of the RCK has displayed the fact that in Mongolia the number
of the people sharing such ideals as the 'serve above self' of
the Rotary movement is not only limited to the English speakers.
This evidenced also that even though Mongolia has been undergoing
tough and tumultuous tests of history, the Mongolians have not
lost and exhausted their drive for and faith in the good. This
encourages the RCK members to look for rescue, 'miracles' and
unexplored potentials inside Mongolia.

 |
| The RCK is a result of the unification of
the people based on the common shared values, friendship and mutual
understanding. The genuine desire to endeavor to make a difference
and serve the community at large is the motivation that brought
about the RCK. The motivation that each and every RCK Rotarian carried
in him or herself was consonant and in tune with the cause and ideals
pursued internationally for almost a century, i.e. with cause and
objectives of the Rotary International. This inspired and sparked
the idea of becoming united under the umbrella of the Rotary International
and creating our own club. The RCK is the nucleus that is to provide
the opportunity for its member Rotarians to implement their individual
humane and community-benefit-oriented ideas. The Mongolians say
- 'drops make the ocean', and the RCK wishes to contribute a drop
to the betterment of the community where we, the Rotarians, live.
